About This Hike
Bjørndalsfjellet is a 362-metre summit in the Gramstad hiking area east of Sandnes. The municipal route is a 4.2 km circuit with 302 metres of total ascent and an estimated walking time of about 1.5 hours. From Gramstad, follow the signed route through the steep passage at Paradisskaret and continue along the ridge over Lutsifjellet to the summit cairn. The height is modest, but the compact route includes rocky ground, a real climb and exposed sections where wind, wet stone or winter ice can slow progress. In clear weather, the ridge opens views across Sandnes, Stavanger, Sola and Lutsivatnet. Sandnes municipality also notes periodic heavy wear on the path, making it especially important to stay on the marked line instead of widening muddy sections. Gramstad is a hub for several trails, and many longer user-recorded tracks combine Bjørndalsfjellet with other objectives. Those are different walks: use the official 4.2 km circuit for the time and ascent given here. The area is popular, so arrive early, park only in designated spaces and close gates through grazing land.
