About This Hike
Blånebba is a demanding marked summit hike from Venjedalssetra in Rauma, overlooking Romsdalen and Trolltindene. Morotur's summer route is 5.2 kilometres each way, climbs 975 metres and takes about five hours of walking; allow additional margin for breaks, navigation and the descent. Pass through the gate at Venjedalssetra and follow the stone-set path uphill on the right side of the river. Cross the bridge partway up and continue on the opposite side into the gentler Hesteheian section. At the signed Romsdalseggen junction, turn left and climb the steeper ridge. A second signed junction separates Blånebba from the main ridge crossing. The final section follows the edge above Romsdalen before moving across the ridge toward the summit. The route record lists its highest point at 1,309 metres, while regional visitor material commonly rounds Blånebba to about 1,320 metres. Either way, this is exposed high-mountain terrain, not a quick extension from Litlefjellet. Mobile coverage is only partial, so download the route and carry a map. The separate winter ski route enters avalanche terrain beneath large cornices; never transfer its line or assumptions to a summer hike, or vice versa.

Before You Go
Follow the signed summer route from Venjedalssetra and use its 5.2 km one-way / 975 m figures for the day. The marked path has clear junctions for Romsdalseggen and then Blånebba; treat the exposed final ridge as the decision point, not as a place to push on in wind, cloud or fatigue. Winter descriptions concern ski touring, cornices and avalanche terrain and must not be used as summer hiking advice.
Information checked: September 2026, against current Morotur summer-route and Rauma winter-route information
⚠️ Safety Notes
- The upper ridge is exposed with steep drops on both sides and calls for sure footing and simple scrambling.
- Snow, cornices and avalanche risk can persist into early summer on the higher slopes.
- Navigation is difficult in cloud and the descent needs care, so poor visibility makes retreat hazardous.
