About This Hike
Mostfjellet is a moderate 6.7-kilometre return hike from Rømåsmyra near Sjusjøen, with 188 metres of total ascent and a summit around 974 metres. Follow Sjusjørunden northeast from the parking area and cross the marsh. After the marsh, leave the broad circuit route on the path continuing ahead and then right. Roughly one kilometre later, a junction with a map board marks the northbound turn uphill. The trail crosses the top of Sollifjellet, drops into the shallow saddle between the two summits and rises again to Mostfjellet. Allow about one hour each way, plus time for the open views across the Ringsaker highlands. Returning by the same route is the only version that matches the published 6.7-kilometre figure. A path continues toward Gulbrandtjernet and turns west or southwest before the water to form a longer loop back to Rømåsmyra; do not add that option while still expecting the listed distance and time. The maintained path is usually fairly dry in summer, but marsh edges, uneven stones and exposed high ground still require footwear with grip. Carry a map or saved route because several paths and winter tracks intersect around Rømåsen, and do not rely on ski-route signs as summer navigation.

- ✓ A 974 m summit reached via neighbouring Sollifjellet

Getting There
Park at Rømåsmyra, about 2 km from Sjusjøvegen: before reaching Sjusjøen, turn toward Rømåsen and follow the road to the signed parking area.
Before You Go
This guide describes the 6.7 km out-and-back from Rømåsmyra via Sollifjellet. The return via Gulbrandtjernet is a longer alternative, so do not expect it to match the stated distance or two-hour time. At the first junction after the marsh, leave Sjusjørunden as described and use the map board one kilometre later to confirm the northbound turn.

⚠️ Safety Notes
- The route uses marked paths, but mountain terrain is uneven and can be wet after rain; wear footwear with grip.
- Do not rely on summer route descriptions when snow, ice or poor visibility is present; turn back if the markings cannot be followed confidently.
- Carry a map and layers, as the open ground around the summits is exposed to wind and rapidly changing weather.
